From 24 November 2025, Westminster City Council will be introducing a new Selective Licensing Scheme which will cover many of the most sought-after areas in the West End.Selective licensing is a system introduced by local councils to regulate privately rented homes. In Westminster’s case, it will cover 15 out of 18 wards including some of the most desirable and high-demand locations in the capital. Every privately rented property in these areas will need a valid Licence and operating without one could lead to significant penalties.
